Announces Summer Camp Scholarship Opportunities
Southeastern
Connecticut based education center utilizes grants from Electric Boat Employee
Community Services Association and Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT Foundation
to offer camp scholarships to worthy students for inquiry-based bioscience and
engineering summer camp sessions for area children (ages 7-15).
NEW LONDON—DNA EpiCenter, New England’s
pre-eminent, hands-on, inquiry-based bioscience educational facility formally
announced today the opportunity for worthy students (ages 8-15) to apply for
summer camp scholarships to attend camp at the DNA EpiCenter. Interested

The 2008 summer camp sessions run for seven weeks
with the first week of camp beginning on Monday, July 7th. and the final week of camp concluding the week of August
18th. Students from the communities of Ashford, Bozrah, Brooklyn, Canterbury,
Chaplin, Colchester, Columbia, Coventry,
East Lyme, Eastford, Franklin,
Griswold, Groton, Groton
City, Hampton,
Killingly, Lebanon,
Ledyard, Lisbon, Lyme, Mansfield,
Montville, New London,
North Stonington, Norwich, Old Lyme, Plainfield,
Pomfret, Preston, Putnam, Salem,
Scotland, Sprague, Sterling,
Stonington, Thompson, Union, Voluntown, Waterford,
Willington, Windham, and Woodstock
are eligible.

opportunity for young people to experience the best of the DNA EpiCenter and
our staff will provide these children with science, social and educational
experiences that will benefit them for years to come.”

Founded in 2004, the mission of the DNA EpiCenter
is to promote the understanding of the science of life to people of all ages.
The DNA EpiCenter offers hands-on, inquiry-based bioscience professional
development workshops for K-12 educators. In addition it offers hands-on,
inquiry based bioscience experiments and museum
exhibits for students in grades K-12. The DNA EpiCenter serves as a resource
for the general public as a destination site utilizing museum
exhibits and educational seminars for ongoing information regarding current
events relating to DNA genetics and forensics.
