History In 2004, recognizing the importance of scientific literacy and the key role of genomics, the Science Center was renamed the DNA EpiCenter, Inc. New curriculum for middle school students was designed by DNA EpiCenter staff to incorporate the newly adopted Connecticut Core Science Curriculum Framework. Professional Development Workshops for teachers were created to support that curriculum. The DNA EpiCenter has hosted two fundraisers, with keynote addresses delivered by Dr. James Watson and Dr. Henry C. Lee, to further publicize the name of the DNA EpiCenter in the community. Volunteers were important in the transformation to the new mission and focus on DNA, forensics, and genetics. The DNA EpiCenter, with a continuing focus on science and education, remains committed to school programs, adult education, and summer camps. |
